A rather fragmentary poem that I wrote just about a month ago. Seems vaguely related to my previous post. And since I haven't had a reason to share it with anyone yet, this seemed as good an opportunity as any...

thoughts about god
(or sex, I forget which)

I want a revolution
where I'm toiling for
the lives of people I love

anger is not enough
rights are not enough
sex is not enough

if I cannot see god in your eyes
I might as well be blind

* * *

the trouble with seeing
god as other people

is how monogamy turns into
monotheism
and how one god becomes
the one guard

remember, it was Moses himself
who chiseled the commandments
turning his love
into obedience

* * *

god became more distant
in the 80's
when latex became de rigueur

when we could no longer forget
the distance between
our bodies
