The big, excluding-everything-else project this week has been prep for Artist's Way.
...Which starts tomorrow. [Which is to say, "today" -- except it's hard to say "today" before the sun comes up, y'know?]
G & I have been talking about how to get the studio set up for months. One of the biggest conundrums has been how to create a flat file system to house 26"x40" sheets of paper (the nice big rag paper G uses for calligraphy).
Well, a few days ago I had one of my patented mad scientist brainstorms... I moved the washer/dryer into the garage, and set to constructing a a piece of furniture to go in the laundry nook. The object's silhouette: 34"widex30"deepx42"high. Number of shelves: 15. Number of screws: a bazillion.
All was looking keen until about 12:30, when I discovered a design flaw. Because I'm using metal fixtures to join the frame elements, there are screws on the inside of the silhouette; they displaced the shelf rails enough that the shelves weren't going to fit if they were all of equal width.
Thought I had a solution, and worked on it til two.
Not good enough. (dammit)
I've got another inkling about how to salvage this project -- but finally it was time to turn my attention to other matters. ...I cleaned up my monumental mess, and set about wiring the paper star lights that G has collected over the past year [mostly as gifts from me].
If only I had a two-prong to three-prong adapter, I could have got the remote lightswitch up and running. *Alas.*
...Still, I'm hoping that G is thrilled with the studio when she wakes up and goes over. Even without a remote lightswitch. Everything is tidy -- and we have stars...
Stars...
