Woke up in the middle of the night feeling ill last night. Persistent headache today. A cold?
Last "The Drawing Studio" class yesterday. What did I get out of it? Hard to say, really. I hadn't used charcoals much previously; I'd heard about "carving out highlights" before -- but hadn't really tried it yet -- so a new drawing technique; and I wanted to get back into motion, drawing, which I did.
The philosophy of the class is what I'll be most chewing over. Very much in line with Julia Cameron's line about "quality through quantity". But with an additional component about lowering your expectations. Hm. Still working out how I might want to apply this thinking to doing writing.
Saw Imago's production of "No Exit" with G. Tilting stage -- pretty neat. Two-dimensional characters, hard chairs, and kinda long. But that's all forgivable. I was very glad to see the play that Sartre's "hell is other people" quote comes from. A long time fave quote 'o' mine.
Next week I'm starting a new work schedule on the Lovecraft film, treating it more like a regular job: M-Fr, 10-5. We'll see. It's an experiment.
Lots of secrets lately. A surprise gift for G on April 1st, a secret surprise for the Artist's Way participants, a secret surpise for my Artist's Way omega project, another secret project in motion regarding G again. I like making surpises for people -- but I'm really getting sick of secrets. :-P
Lots of discussion lately about career paths and long-range futures. No real conclusions yet -- just angst. Probably at this point the best thing is just to set the discussion aside for a while, see what grows out of the compost.
