Correction: the take-home from Creative Job Club yesterday was that G has adequately defined her goals, now she can move on to describing her services and 3 things that make them special.
G is doing me a wonderful, wonderful favor. For years I've been trucking around a mess in my office spaces. I've seen it before, that it can be very difficult for an individual to work through their own mess -- but an outsider has less emotional attachment, and can help cut through the clutter. I've helped other folks deal with their own heaps before. ...Well, this time G's helping me.
We're using the Dave Allen "Getting Things Done" system. We actually have a photocopy of his flow-chart in hand, to help us process things. The gist: (1) what is this thing? (2) is it actionable? (3) what's the next step? (4) either do it, or put it aside but note it in a to-do list. We're doing 15 minutes a day together -- yes, with a timer. At least til the end of the month. We didn't get through a lot at all -- but they were emotionally charged items, so I'm very pleased with us.
OH, but I've got a backlog of things that I should blog about...
Last Thursday, G took me out to the Edgefield -- a McMennamin's hotel & labyrinth of little bars. What a treat! ...I have to confess, I'm so used to being the one who orchestrates things like this, I've found myself thinking "I'm so glad I thought of this" -- which is a complete fabrication. It's very embarassing, too; here I am, having been taken out on the town, and I haven't sung my sweetheart's praises (which is what my better self wants). ...Stoopid boy conditioning.
Dinner and breakfast at the Black Rabbit restaurant were included. G had some simply phenomenal grub. Mine was excellent for dinner -- surprisingly filling, despite being light on protein. We both agreed breakfast was more ho-hum. Still, can't complain!
And there was art everywhere. On the water pipes, on the doors to your room, on the hall walls... It's really a sight to see. ...In the morning, we explored the grounds, where there's a golf course, an herb garden, little semi-wooded areas, a glass-blower... Just wandering around was really pleasant.
It was sooo nice, just to be taken out. Not for a birthday or holiday -- just cuz. What a wonderful day...
Thank you, G.
