This morning G & I went for a bike ride on the Springwater Corridor for 1 hr 45 min. We did a bunch of exploring on the other side of Powell Butte, off toward the shooting range, where I've never gone before. On the way back, we stopped at a bench and G let me lay my head in her lap awhile. Sun on my skin. Very nice.

So tired. Got a decent night's worth of sleep last night, but have culminative dep going on from the past several days.

We found this little prickly gord thing growing off a creeping vine that was eating a tree. I thought there might be frogs in it. [Not really, but it looked like there might be something amphibious living inside this alien bulb, y'know?] So we cut it open very carefully when we got home. There were green-white seeds inside, which if you split them, revealed clear, watery gel.

The world is full of wonders.

We also saw a deer, and a rabbit which ran across the path in front of us. We get a lot of rabbits on the Springwater. I like that.

As I said I would, yesterday I went to the Reed library and did more YL research. A total of 3 hrs 15 min -- which is both a lot, and nothing at all. My current research question: What is the origin of the age of majority? I've got strong leads now for Greece, Rome, and feudal England. I'm alternately demoralized by how much work this research is taking, and hopeful because it seems like I'm pursuing a thread that others haven't yet.

I'm always imagining books that I could write. The current imaginary project is titled "The Invention of Adulthood".

After going to the library, I returned "Alphaville" to Clinton St. Video. I like them. You just get a good feeling in this store. I picked up "Colossus: The Forbin Project" on my way out. It's a (presumably) bad sci fi film I've been meaning to watch for some time. Something that G won't mind missing during media dep week. :-)

J & Mari are off to San Fran today to see the Pride march and visit J's relatives (if she can relocate them). I wish'm well, and hope (as I always do when someone goes on a road trip) that they don't die.

Like two snacks passing in the night: G sent raspberries along with me for J; J gave me brownies to take back home. G & I made brownie-icecream-maraschino cherry sundaes and ate them while watching "Stomp - Out Loud". [We made an exception in media dep week, because this was research for the next Artist's Way class, which will involve making music.]
