I feel good about what I got done today: 6 hr 45 min shopping.
I was very methodical. I've been collecting a "to buy" list on Confessor for some time. I typed up another list, of all the stores I ever go to, and grouped them by area. I sorted items from list A into list B.
The big purchase of the day: a Canon Powershot G5 digital camera. I saved my birthday money and my xmas money, and today was the big day. Went to the library on 122nd, read through Consumer Reports on the matter. I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Best Buy to discover that during the past 6 months the model I was aiming for has been replaced by another that is $200 cheaper and has an extra megapixel. Woo-hoo!
I went for a model with lots of ability for manual control (having learned my lesson somewhat with the DV cam I purchased in Dec 2002). As I'm skimming through the software manual, I've discovered something absolutely fantastic: not only can I snap shots using a remote -- I can use the laptop to control the cam, and store shots immediately onto Confessor.
Why would I want to do this? Cuz I'm going to do animation!!
I was out all afternoon, and didn't actually get home til 9:30ish. Some of that time was spent picking up art materials for my first 3D animation project. [And no, since you asked, I don't count that time in the 6:45.] I've got plans to put together a sort of diarama, and then have a clay (well, Sculpey, actually) character fool around in it. So far, everything looks like I'll be good to go.
Oh my gawd -- this is such a childhood dream come true. Pinch me!
