Very busy today. Almost ten hours of labor. Mondays have become my groceries and catch-up day. (No, not "ketchup".)
Very good: I was able to procure a new key for my broken electric piano today. It's been almost five years, I think... One of those tasks that you always mean to get around to, but never seems to float up to the top. Iron-fingers me got a little too frenetic one night, and managed to crack one of the lead-weighted bits inside. Ah, but now I can repair it... Instead of just playing around that A-flat.
Very exciting: While reading through the upcoming DVD releases on amazon, I discovered that the Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock are going to be released in their entirety, season by season. ...About frickin' time!!
Very dumb: Mirrormask -- which I keep going on about -- is going to be released on Sept 30. The. same. day. as. Serenity. ...What are y'all thinking, guys??
Very meh: G had a bad Artist's Way night. It was a good concept -- I know, cuz G play-tested it on me. But there was a small group (four), and two of them abstained from the activities. Which is, y'know, their right. But at the same time, it's a helluva way to sabotage a session, when there's so few of you.
Very over: Media dep week has ended for G. I wasn't doing it myself, true, but it'll be nice to have music in the house again. Picked up a bunch of new music at Music Millenium while I was out (yes, I turned off the timer). The notable new releases: Dresden Dolls live album, Mike Doughty (formerly of Soul Coughing) solo album. Cred to bro for putting me onto both purchases.
Hey Rob -- have you checked out Jason Moran? Solo jazz pianist does an instrumental cover of hip-hop song "planet rock" with a prepared piano, a la Cage. Very up your alley. Heard him on NPR -- sounds like he's kinda the new up'n'coming... Well, I don't know if he's all that. But still.
