Irritating phone call from my mom this morning. Unmistakable tone of disappointment / disapproval. She's not adapting as well as I'd like to G living with me... Despite being told over and over again that it wasn't going to happen, I don't think she ever fully gave up the hope that J & I would marry and bear grandchildren. ...She bites her tongue, but it's clear she's not big on our renting the other unit as studio space. And, once again, it's been made apparent that none of my earthly labors are worth jack if they're not supervised by a traditional employer. Grrr...

Yesterday, in the grand tradition of decadent Saturdays, G & I stayed in bed all day, snuggling, talking, looking at my old sketchbooks. Delishatacious dinner courtesy of G: mandarin orange faux chicken. Wow!! [For my part, I contributed the steamed rice.]

We started watching "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", which G hadn't seen yet, but she fell asleep. ...With "Prisoner of Azkaban" already in theatres, I think I'm going to try to read her the book first -- just at an accelerated pace. With 22 chapters, two chapters a day ought to finish the thing in time to still see the flick in theatres.

Today the studio is officially ours! Now comes figuring out how we want to arrange things in it, purchasing some basic folding tables and torchieres, figuring out some computer solutions. Ooh, I'm excited!

...And today, G & I will be checking out the PDX comics fest. Don't know what to expect. :-)
